Trees seen resting branches while ‘asleep’

Do trees sleep? Do they slow down their metabolism at night? For the first time, researchers are showing signs that trees rest their branches at night. They lay their branches in positions that are different than the day.

It might have something to do with their own circadian rhythm, that at night trees uptake water different than the day. But when analyzed over 24 hours, the trees appear to be sleeping.

Maybe they are sleeping.
